Facial Implants

Facial implants are synthetic materials surgically placed beneath the skin to enhance or augment facial features. These implants are commonly used to improve facial symmetry, restore volume lost due to aging. Correcting congenital defects, or enhance specific facial features to achieve a desired aesthetic result are also common goals.

Facial implants come in various shapes and sizes to address different areas of the face. Including the chin, cheeks, jawline, and temples. The most common types of facial implants include:

  1. Chin Implants: These implants are used to augment a receding or weak chin, providing better balance and harmony to the  profile.
  2. Cheek Implants: Cheek implants are designed to add volume and definition to the cheeks, enhancing facial contours and restoring youthful fullness.
  3. Jaw Implants: Jaw implants can strengthen a weak jawline or correct asymmetry, resulting in a more defined and balanced lower face.
  4. Temple Implants: Temple implants are less common but can be used to restore volume to sunken temples, creating a more youthful appearance.

Facial implant surgery is typically performed under local or general anesthesia. It depends on the extent of the procedure and patient preference. The surgeon makes incisions in inconspicuous locations, such as inside the mouth or along natural creases, to minimize visible scarring. The implants are then carefully positioned and secured in place before the incisions are closed.

Recovery from facial implant surgery varies depending on the specific procedure and individual healing factors. Patients may experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the treated areas. These can be managed with pain medication and cold compresses. Most people can return to normal activities within a week or two following the surgery,.Although strenuous exercise and vigorous chewing should be avoided for a few weeks to allow for proper healing.

As with any surgical procedure, facial implant surgery carries risks, including infection, bleeding, product displacement, and changes in sensation. It’s essential to choose a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon to minimize these risks and achieve the desired outcome. I’m looking to have my jawline contoured(no fillers, a permanent look), so it’s more masculine and defined, also having a chin implant done as well.
