Generally, breast development has slowed or neared completion by age 18 to 20, but changes continue throughout your life, according to your weight loss/gain, genetics, pregnancy, and age. These conditions can all affect your breasts over a lifetime.

What causes the loss of sensation after breast augmentation surgery?

There are two types of loss of feeling; in the nipple and cleavage area. Lose sensation in the cleavage area is more common, but the loss of nipple sensation can also be seen.

After breast augmentation surgery, I usually recommend delaying shower for at least 48 to 72 hours. After that, patients easily can take a shower but not submerging themselves in a bathtub or hot tub for at least 2 weeks.

However, following your surgeon’s recommendation it is still the best option because, in each breast surgery, different conditions can occur.

What are the effects of smoking on breast augmentation results?

First of all, not for only breast augmentation surgery, Smoking before or after the surgery should be avoided.

Smoking damages the airway and makes it more difficult to clear secretions which increases the risk of a pulmonary infection.

I recommend to my patients that to be free of nicotine for at least 2 weeks days because nicotine constricts blood vessels which can delay wound healing.

How soon can I swim after breast augmentation surgery?

You can go swimming after your incisions are completely healed from your surgery and the healing procedure will take 3-4 weeks.

You should also make sure that your incisions should be protected from sun exposure, otherwise, the scars will become more noticeable.

However, as long as you are protected from sunshine, you can go scuba diving, or spearfishing, etc…
